Treehouse vs Playhouse: Which Is Right for Your Garden?

First things first - are there trees in your garden? If so, the next question is whether there is a tree in a spot where you'd ideally like a structure. Often they are not in the very best spot for where you would like a treehouse. In which case, I would suggest not trying to crowbar the tree in there.

Most of the time, when involving a tree, we build a walkway around it, rather then have it run through the middle of the house. However we can do that, and it creates a spectacular look, as seen below.

We never use the trees to help the treehouse stand - our structures are always self supporting since most trees in this country are not big enough, and would sway too much in the wind.

Another thing we sometimes do is to build a playhouse right in front of a tree, or a few trees. This keeps costs down, since it adds a bit of time and complexity to build round a tree. It is also often the case that a tree is right on the boundary of a garden, and you can't build all the way round it. This still creates the effect of being a treehouse without technically being one. Like the one below...

We also often build playhouses that don't pretend to be anything else. Often, even when a tree is available it might be the best option. For example, if it's echoing the main house, like this...

We will always help advise on the best way to go when doing a quote, and talk through all the options and pros and cons with you. Sometimes it's a simple decision, sometimes not, but whatever you decide, you'll get a great, unique structure.
